Why do I care if you wear a helmet?

Every 15 seconds, someone in the United States suffers a traumatic brain injury. Of the 1,000,000 people treated in hospital emergency rooms each year, 50,000 die and 80,000 become permanantly disabled because of traumatic brain injury.

DC BMX Bike Team!!!

DC's bikers came to Cedar City Utah to give us a little demonstration of their sweet biking skills! They did all sorts of tricks like backflips, jumps, one legged tricks, and even standing on their handle bars! The most important part was they were wearing...HELMETS!!!

In the middle of their show they even let me stand on their ramp and talk a little bit about how important helmets are, and they jumped right over me! It was probably one of the scariest moments of my life s0 far haha but they are professionals and don't worry I was still 100% intact after they jumped...I was standing up there thinking..."Shoot where is my helmet!?!"

The Iron County fair over labor day weekend was a great chance to distribute helmet information! Thanks to my "Headsmart Team" (aka family) for throwing out candy, distributing helmet information, and walking/running in formation! :) September 2010

Miss Iron County is giving me opportunities to make a difference...but it can be quite exhausting...see picture above :)

These scouts know that when it comes to protecting their brains there are NO EXCUSES!

I was on a drive last night when I happened to see 6 longboarders...3 of which were wearing helmets!!! And last week I saw 4 middle school aged boys scootering also with helmets! We are making progress! Thank you to everyone who is wearing their helmet! May 2010
